Welcome to the

Heart of Dixie Steelers Fan Club

Home of the Alabama Chapter of the:

Pittsburgh Steelers Nation

            Based in Birmingham, Alabama

2009 was a year we all are looking forward to putting behind us.  Although the Pittsburgh Steelers ended with a victory over the Miami Dolphins, 30-24, the year as a whole feel short of the expectations both the team and it's incredible fan base has come to expect.

As Steelers fans, we all know that this off-season has been one we also soon hope to forget.  Sadly, we had to say good-bye to Santonio Holmes and perhaps more disheartening, we only got a 5th round pick for him.  But, as Steelers fans we know that the Rooney's don't tolerate fools well and Santonio used up his allotment of chances.

Now for the Pink Elephant in the room, Big Ben. Rather than make a long and perhaps overly opinionated statement regarding Ben I'll simply state, it's time for him to grow up, realize and appreciate the position he is in and then prove it by acting accordingly.  Hopefully he's learned this time around and is able to become the consistent leader both on and off the field any great team needs. Then and only then, will he win back the trust of his teammates and fans.  I'm quite sure, this is his last chance.

We, the members of The Heart of Dixie Steelers fan club experienced a similar year of disappointment in 2009. Due to a change in management at our original home, Buffalo Wild Wings on John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover, AL, we were inclined to find a new bar to gather and cheer for our beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.  We found a temporary home for the 2009 season at On Tap in Inverness off of 280.  Although they did their best to support us, it just never felt like home. After 6 years at BWW, building a loyal fan base and developing a reputation in the area as a Steelers Bar, relocating to a new venue simply didn't transition as well as we had hoped. During this off season, we will be evaluating our options in an effort to re-establish a home bar, one that will welcome the title of Steelers Bar and one that we can all be proud to call our home.

If you, the members, have any suggestions, let us know your thoughts.

We will be sending out an email in the very near future, this being July 13, 2010, to announce our new location.

We the Steelers fans just by our sheer numbers and enthusiasm will determine which bar will be our Steelers Bar.
